Every year, 16,000 US kids are diagnosed with cancer. Because childhood cancer research is grossly underfunded, even children who survive often have lasting side effects of treatment like amputation, infertility, blindness, or brain damage. Even worse, some cancers, like the brain cancer DIPG have a 0% survival rate. 16,000 kids each year are trapped in childhood cancer, but a movement is starting and growing to change that. Organizations like Quilts for Cure and others are on a mission to encourage and heal our children. There is a growing hope and vision of a day when childhood cancers can be cured and when treatments are not poisonous to our children. Whether your family has been touched by childhood cancer, touched by another hardship, or touched by the awareness of the challenges of others, make this quilt with a heart full of hope and joy for all the good things that are and are yet to be.
