Dear Future Rockstar: Part 2

As much as I love sharing the amazing final projects of FMQ Rockstars when they graduate from Free Motion Quilting Academy, I know it can be a little overwhelming to see such amazing work when you’re nervous about getting started. So, I asked the Quilting Rockstars to share some encouragement as you begin your own free motion quilting adventure.

Have you ever wondered what the FMQ Academy graduates and students might say to their past selves who were nervous about the class or terrified of free motion quilting? Have you ever been tempted to think, “Well, those Rockstars must have already had some experience before the class-- they weren’t scared, and that’s why their work is so great!”? Once again, I’ve asked a few Quilting Rockstars to share what they might say to their pre-FMQA selves, as well as what they’d like to share with you.

Dear Future Rockstar,

If you are scared or are second guessing your ability to quilt your own quilts, just stop and enroll in FMQA.  It will change your quilting life!  HollyAnne is an excellent teacher and motivator! The videos are easy to understand and you can learn these new skills. It will definitely make you a confident quilter if you complete this course. I am a visual learner and I appreciate the ability to have lifetime access. During the course I would rewatch a lesson several times in order to master a motif. You will not regret taking this course and expanding your quilting skills!

Kathy R.
Fall 2021 cohort and graduate!

You are about to begin a new adventure!  You are going to love it!  You will gain the skills and confidence to not only fi.ish your own quilts, but have a blast doing it.

Enjoy the journey.

Barbara K.
Graduated Spring 2022

I enrolled in the winter 2023 FMQA . I have not yet graduated but am hoping to this August . I have finished my sampler quilt and just have the binding left . I would never have attempted FMQ if it had not been for the FMQA and HollyAnne . All of the people involved from past and present cohorts have been so encouraging . I am no longer afraid to quilt on my domestic machine . These are just a few of the designs I learned. I have not machine quilted before except for using my walking foot. Do not hesitate to join . There is no expiration date , so even if you do not finish during your cohort like me , you can complete the course on your time.

Closing Thoughts

YOU are already a Quilting Rockstar, and if you’re wanting to be a Free Motion Quilting Rockstar, too, I hope Kathy, Barbara, and Maureen have helped inspire you! I’d be honored to be your guide on a fun, FMQ adventure!
