  • Intro to Free Motion Quilting

Free Motion Quilting is a wonderful way to finish your quilts on your home sewing machine. This class guides you through the basics of adjusting your tension, maintaining healthy posture, and quilting four foundational FMQ motifs: meander, loopy meander, swirls, and switchbacks.

Free motion quilting is a lot like handwriting– a few shapes that, once learned, can be mixed and matched into dozens of motifs. Even if you don’t consider yourself an “artist,” this class will prepare you to finish your own quilts with confidence!

  • Foundations in Ruler Quilting

Quilting with rulers is a fundamental skill for working on the longarm in order to stitch in the ditch, echo shapes, create grids, and more.

You will learn foundational ruler quilting motifs and mix them with some basic free motion quilting. Ruler quilting skills taught will include stitch in the ditch, echo quilting, grids, and ruler-guided switch backs.

  • Confident Custom Quilting (intermediate)

If you’ve seen stunning custom quilting online or at a quilt show, but felt puzzled about how to plan and execute that kind of quilting on your own projects, then you’ll love this class!

Bring a quilt block or two, and I’m going to show you step by step how to plan a creative combination of ruler and free motion quilting motifs, how to map your quilting route, and how to actually stitch it out! You’ll leave our time together inspired to create complex custom quilting plans for larger projects and with the skills to make your vision a reality!

  • Dogwood Blossoms Quilt Block

Piecing triangles can be tricky business, but when done well, you’ll be rewarded with sharp points and beautiful blocks. Together, let’s piece a Dogwood Blossoms quilt block and I’ll show you my best tips for piecing square in a square blocks, half square triangles, and tri-recs units!

  • Intro to Foundation Paper Piecing

Join me to foundation paper piece your first block and turn it into an adorable pin cushion. FPP gets a bad rap for being a difficult mindbender, but it’s actually a fun way to “paint by number” with your fabric scraps.
