Log Cabin Quilt-A-Long

The Log Cabin is a classic quilt block, and it has been one of my favorites since even before I started quilting. The straight lines are perfect for beginner quilters – both to practice piecing and to practice free motion quilting sashing and border motifs. Whether you’re making a fast finish or your first, precious quilt, a Log Cabin is a fun, enjoyable quilt to make.

The Log Cabin quilt pattern and quilt-a-long is perfect for you if you’d like to make a quilt with friends, practice some basic piecing, and make a quilt that is ideal for practicing your free motion quilting! I can’t wait to stitch with you!

On MONDAYS, I’ll release a resource (blog and/or YouTube video) full of tips and tricks for that week’s sewing. Then, on WEDNESDAYS, join me via Instagram live (@stringandstory) at 10am ET from March 23 - April 22 to sew together while I answer Q&As (replays available).

Signing up for the QAL is free, but you’ll need to purchase the pattern to sew along with us.

    The Schedule

The QAL will run from March 23 - April 22

This Log Cabin quilt is a perfect opportunity to piece a scrappy quilt and use some lovely fat quarters. As we work together, we will discuss color choice and placement, practice accurate cutting, an accurate quarter inch seam, and pressing best practices. We are going to go step by step so you can practice each skill and feel confident about your final quilt blocks.
