Lumber Jane Quilt-A-Long

Lumber Jane is the perfect sophisticated picnic blanket. Whether you’re curling up on the couch, draping it on your bed, or going for a picnic in the forest, she’s the girl’s girl who always has your back.

As far as construction, I love that Lumber Jane looks complicated, but is mostly made with strip piecing. I love the variety of shapes for quilting, and I love both the transparency and scrappy possibilities.

This Lumber Jane quilt is a wonderful chance to play with color and transparency to create gorgeous effects. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to play with solids, this is it!

As we work together, we will discuss color choice and placement, practice accurate piecing and cutting of strip piecing, and play with some creative constructions to create our setting flower units. We are going to go step by step so you can practice each skill and feel confident about your final quilt blocks. Then, we’ll be sure to talk about quilting plans so this quilt becomes your favorite picnic companion, not another flimsy stuffed in the back of the closet!
